New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who announced his retirement earlier this month, said in his final speech on Monday that “strong political pressure and media frenzy” has led to an eager judgment on allegations of sexual harassment.
And MondayComo’s assistant Melissa De Rosa confirmed that the 63-year-old Democrat had “no interest in running for public office again” after 10 years as governor. New York State will hold a governor election in November 2022.
“between [his time as Housing and Urban Development secretary], [New York attorney general and] Governor, Andrew Cuomo Worked in the public service field for nearly 25 years. His way of working is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” De Rosa said in a statement.
“He looks forward to spending time with his family, and there are a lot of fishing activities to catch up. He is exploring many options, but he is not interested in running for office again.”
Due to allegations of sexual harassment, the impeachment investigation is expected to continue.
Cuomo resigned on August 10. He said that the best way he can help New York is to “give way and let the government return to power.”
He denied the charges against him. “In my opinion, I have never crossed the line with anyone, but I did not realize how far the line has been redrawn,” Como says When he announced his resignation.
“I just don’t fully understand the generational and cultural changes. I shouldn’t have any excuses.”
Como Will be replaced by Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul. There will be a private ceremony after midnight on Tuesday where she will be sworn in as the first female governor of New York State.
