The spiritual leader of Buddhism, the 14th Dalai Lama, turned 86 on Tuesday.Born in Ramtondup, he is recognized as the reincarnation of the thirteenth generation Dalai Lama, Tuden Gyatso, was given the spiritual name Tenzin Gyatso when he was two years old. In 1939, he was officially recognized as the 14th Dalai Lama.
In 1989, the Dalai Lama won the Nobel Peace Prize for his non-violent campaign for freedom and democracy in Tibet.
