‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’ made $100 million

The martial arts fantasy film “Everything Everywhere All at Once” has exceeded 100 million US dollars at the global box office, which is also A24’s first film to break through at the box office.

The film, starring Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis, re-releases in theaters on July 29 — with an introduction by the filmmaker and an extra eight minutes of extra footage.

Re-releases are not the kind of successful movies that Hollywood sees every day.

Originally released in the US in March, Everything Everywhere All at Once is now live, but landed in domestic theaters again last weekend.

According to Variety, the film increased its box office receipts by $650,000 between Friday and Sunday in nearly 1,500 theaters.

Yeoh plays Evelyn Wang, a Chinese immigrant involved in a wild adventure that plunges her into alternate universes to save her world.

Writers/directors Daniel Chenart (35) and Daniel Kwan, 34 (collectively known as the Daniel Family) originally envisioned and met martial arts legend and actor Jackie Chan for the role. This part was rewritten for Yeoh when Chan, 68, told them he wasn’t there.

In a Guardian interview published in May, Young shared her longtime friend’s reaction to the film’s rave reviews.

“Jackie actually texted me,” she said. “Then he said, ‘Wow, I heard great stuff about your movie. You know the boys came to see me in China? I said, ‘Yes, your loss, my brother!'”

While promoting the film in April, Curtis, 63, said on The Talk: “I think there’s a touching story at the heart of everything. In the best sci-fi multiverse films of this kind, if they don’t touch You, the audience will get used to it a little bit.”

“The movie actually makes you feel huge hearts,” she added.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” is currently in theaters and available for rent/buy on Amazon Prime Video.
