Family Kitchen Range From Gousto

If you pop by here regularly you will know that we love a Gousto box! I’ve had a subscription for quite some time now. I also include the recipes in our meal plans and even have a guide with everything you need to know about Gousto!
We are quite the die-hard fans, so when I was asked to try out the new Family Kitchen Range I couldn’t wait to get cooking!

Picky Eaters

Hands up if you have a fussy eater at home. Yes, me too! Gousto’s recent research has revealed that nearly nine in ten (87%) UK parents say they have at least one fussy eater at home.
The survey of 1,000 parents with children aged 3-16 revealed that over half (54%) of parents with fussy children feel it adds stress to their day. It’s no surprise either, almost a third (31%) of parents cook extra meals every day to feed fussy family members, spending on average an extra 19 minutes in the kitchen every dinnertime.

One in six (15%) parents have given up trying to incentivise their children to eat different foods, saying they let them eat what they want, whereas over two in five (43%) get children involved in preparing and cooking meals.

What’s different about the family kitchen range?

The family kitchen range is so versatile that it is suitable for the whole family, meaning no cooking several different meals to cater for everyone!

Here’s what Matt Pool, one of the chefs that created the range at Gousto, says –

The recipes in the Family Kitchen range are designed to offer something for everyone around the dining table. Every recipe has easy-to-follow instructions, contains two of your 5-a-day and has some form of adaptability to make them child friendly. This could be an adaptable spice level, different toppings or maybe even hidden veg – a favourite fussy eater tactic among parents. The new recipes will be part of our ongoing menu, so children can request their favourites time and again, making mealtimes easier for time-pushed parents.”

There are so many yummy dishes to choose from, we had the following meals.

Sausage, Pepper & Potato Hash With Herby Dressing

This recipe was an absolute favourite. Simple to make and tasted so good! This recipe included chilli, but I love how this was made into a dressing making it optional to add some extra heat to the meal.
I find a lot of recipes are too hot for me, let alone the kids, so this was perfect allowing us all to add as much or as little heat to the dish as we liked. The portion size was great and everyone was pleasantly full after dinner.

Creamy Tomato Gnocchi Bake With Tenderstem Broccoli

We had never really had gnocchi before we joined up with Gousto. We had it once and it’s now a regular meal in our house. I really enjoyed this recipe. The soft cheese in the sauce makes it really creamy and the fresh tomato gives it just the right amount of acidity. The Tenderstem broccoli pairs perfectly and it’s a great meat-free meal option. This meal only took about 10 minutes to prepare and was on the table 20 minutes later so perfect for midweek when we haven’t got a moment to spare.

Mexican-Style Veggie Wraps With Crispy Onion Cobettes

Another meat-free meal and you really didn’t notice. There was a little more prep work involved with this dish. Great if you have children that can be trusted with a knife as I always find it helps to get the kids involved whenever I am cooking. The wraps are tasty and there were plenty to go around. The crispy onion cobettes are a fantastic twist of corn on the cob and a perfect accompaniment to the wraps.

Honey Chicken With Tomato & Pepper Rice Bake

This one is super colourful and really tasty. Simple to prep and the oven does the majority of the work. The portions are really big so great for large appetites. Once again the flavour can be adjusted by adding more or less dressing making it perfect for families with differing tastes. The honey chicken is nice and light and overall everyone enjoyed this meal.
