When your friend is going out of town and offering your family her house in the woods for a few days of little family vacations, you say yes and pack the kids and go! Yes, that really happened. Is this real life? !

Thank you so much for the like-minded spirit I found and for making quick friendships with selfless people who gave so generously and truly lived like Jesus. Giving up her home to our crazy staff is a truly sacred act of trust. But seriously, it’s such a big gift, and a trip to the mountains was just the adventure our whole family needed. Making memories last a lifetime is my favorite pastime.

“The best adventures are those that sneak up on you without warning. Crazy and exciting ideas that come out of nowhere. If you’re brave enough to try new things and go to new places, then these It’s the best experience.” – Alastair Humphreys

On the last day of our trip we explored downtown Truckee – what a lovely downtown! We had lunch in Como and it was the best taco I’ve ever had! We also stopped for coffee to make stuff and the Word After Word bookstore. Then we headed to the Donner Memorial State Park Visitor Center (no, we didn’t share history with the kids (and glad they didn’t ask…) and spent an afternoon at Donner Lake.

Completely surrounded by pines and mountains, Donner Lake is constantly moving, it’s amazing! So beautiful and peaceful. Lake Tahoe gets all the hype, but folks, if you’re in the area, definitely visit Donner. This is the most peaceful and beautiful place. This is the perfect ending to our adventure!

until next time! ! We plan to visit in the snow soon! I can not wait anymore!
