Honors awarded to Fox News Channel by the Multicultural Media and Journalists Association Harris Faulkner He was named Broadcast Journalist of the Year at the 6th Annual Multicultural Media Correspondents Dinner and Summit.
The event was held at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.
Faulkner commented when accepting the award:
“The road to this point has never been about my race, ethnicity, culture, or any fixed or unchangeable demographic data. The main ingredient is more powerful than this. I was born and raised in a military base in the United States and even in Stuttgart, Germany. I am the wife of an amazing military officer, the daughter of a kindergarten teacher, and a social worker. Her family is a mixture of Haitians and Native Americans. I am the daughter of a military combat pilot from East Texas. My parents told me that our skin tone and hair texture will always be recognized by those who only choose to see it. However, we must work hard to ensure that our success reflects the diversity of our personal talents, thoughts and experiences. I’m now teaching my biracial daughter the power of individualism based on something you didn’t see in the first place. Tonight, we celebrate the fact that journalism, like many other parts of American life, works best when it represents the widest range of humanity. Two things drive the narrative of me and my family: service and leadership. Speaking of leaders, I am surrounded by talented visionaries every day. Some of my FOX family are here! They are the epitome of the team’s goals! thank you all. To the organizers of the Multicultural Media Journalists Association, I want to thank you for recognizing my work and the way I work. Because the work itself is what we are all doing. But the particularity that each of us brings from our growth experiences, failures, victories and values is a powerful combination that makes us make a convincing and memorable voice in the media. Thank you for adding me to the MMCA completion list! “
