After being accused of using racist and homophobic terms between 2011 and 2018 that led him to resign as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, Jon Gruden is now suing the National Football League, Alleged that the league tried to sabotage his career “through malicious and well-planned activities.”
The lawsuit filed on Thursday stated that “the NFL and Commissioner Roger Goodell tried to destroy Jon Gruden’s career and reputation.” “Contrary to the formalities of the Washington football team’s investigation, the defendant’s handling of Gruden was a Soviet-style assassination of characters…without warning, and without procedures.”
The NFL launched an investigation into the misdemeanor of the Washington football team in the workplace in October and discovered an email that Gruden allegedly sent to then general manager Bruce Allen, which contained the language. Gruden resigned the same month.
The lawsuit further claimed that when the Raiders refused to fire Gruden, the league “weaponized” him, which eventually led to the team forcing him to resign.
“Of the 650,000 emails collected in the NFL’s investigation of the Washington football team, why Gruden’s emails were the only public one, or why these emails were kept for months before being released among the raiders, without any explanation or reason “The season,” Gruden’s lawyer Adam Hosmer-Henner said in a statement on Friday.
Gruden did not deny sending any emails in the lawsuit and apologized for his comments.
