Former California Senator Barbara Boxer expressed gratitude that she was not “seriously injured” in the violent attack by the attackers, saying that she stole her mobile phone before quickly escaping on Monday.

“Earlier today, former Senator Barbara Boxer was attacked near Jack London Square in Auckland,” a message read. Post to Boxer’s official Twitter account“The attacker pushed her to the back, stole her mobile phone, and jumped into a waiting car. She was thankful that she was not seriously injured.”
