Friends of Mukai seek to revive fruit barrels


Friends of Mukai, a nonprofit dedicated to operating Mukai Farms and Gardens, is launching a campaign to restore and bring new activities to its historic Fruit Barreling Plant, the facility used by the Mukai family for processing and processing. Pack their strawberry harvest.

Interested parties are invited to obtain a Request for Information (RFI) by writing to info@mukaifarmandgarden.org.

The Fruit Barreling facility includes 5,200 square feet of interior space and 1,530 square feet of covered balconies. Friends of Mukai only seeks responses from individuals/organizations with the relevant experience and financial capacity to ensure a successful and sustainable lease. Responses to the RFI are due April 15.

Mukai Farm & Garden was the last Japanese-American farm still standing in the United States before World War II.
