Climate group Just Stop Oil said 51 of its supporters had disrupted seven petrol stations in London.
In some places, activists made the fuel pump unusable by smashing the display glass or covering it with spray paint.
In other cases, they sat on the road holding banners to prevent entry. The operation begins around 6am on Friday, August 26, 2022.

Just Stop Oil has repeatedly protested new oil projects in recent days, including at petrol stations on the M25 motorway.

“We are suffering from our worst cost-of-living crisis in 40 years and facing climate collapse because of our dependence on oil.
“However, the UK government has allowed energy companies to push us into poverty with skyrocketing energy bills and has failed to protect us from climate collapse. Enough is enough.”
The Metropolitan Police said: “Protesters attacked some petrol stations this morning, causing chaos and damaging petrol stations.
“Officers are at each of the targeted locations, we’ve made some arrests, and teams of experts are clearing those stuck to the pump.”
