Pianist Gloria Chien and violinist Soovin Kim won the 2021 Chamber Music Association (CMS) Chamber Music Outstanding Service Award. The award was presented in New York City on November 9.

Chien and Kim will become the art directors of Northwest Chamber Music (CMNW) in 2020.

The first season of the duo included a complete set of nine concerts-all concerts were performed due to the pandemic. In the summer of 2021, as restrictions began to relax, they reintroduced live performances, public rehearsals, master classes, family concerts, and free performances.

In a joint statement, the winners are not only colleagues, but also married to each other. They said: “As artistic leaders, we have a responsibility to serve the community, especially in this uncertain period. Musical promotion and connection are Two things we desperately need during the pandemic.”
