H1, a New York City-based company that provides data on doctors and researchers around the world, announced Wednesday that it has acquired London-based Faculty Opinions to help life sciences companies, research organizations and other institutions take advantage of new technologies including Nobel Insights from top scientists, including award winners.
With this acquisition (financial details were not disclosed), H1 can now provide Faculty Opinion’s data, which highlights emerging research, to users at academic institutions and other research organizations. H1 follows a SaaS subscription model through which customers purchase licenses to access their products and can add service packs as needed.
“The acquisition of Faculty Opinions will significantly increase the value of H1 to our expansive network,” H1 CEO Ariel Katz said in an email provided by a representative.
He said the addition of Faculty Opinions content will enable users to discover the latest and most promising research; develop cutting-edge thinking; and collaborate with opinion leaders to improve medicine, scientific research and patient care.
The addition of teacher input complements the data services currently offered by H1.
Last year, the company Launched a product called H1 Trial Landscape Pharmaceutical companies can use it to select clinicians and research trial sites. This includes accessible data on physician ethnicity to help ensure research is inclusive and conducted by diverse groups of clinicians.
The Faculty Opinions acquisition expands H1’s reach and opportunity to impact healthcare by bringing the data under one umbrella, Katz said.
“As we want to make healthcare more affordable and accessible, we must make data more accessible about the experts driving innovation in healthcare and medicine,” he said. “That’s what we’re going to do together.”
An executive at Faculty Opinions expects H1 to be able to expand its reach.
“We strongly believe that H1 will meaningfully accelerate Faculty Opinions’ mission by increasing community engagement and making Faculty Opinions’ content visible in the markets they serve,” Faculty Opinions founder and chairman Vitek Tracz said in a statement Say.
Other organizations also provide healthcare provider data, such as Definitive Healthcare and John Snow Labs.
But H1 claims its vast database, insights and network are built to advance the life sciences and medicine. According to the company, H1 is used by seven of the top 10 global pharmaceutical companies and several leading academic medical centers including Columbia University and the University of Pennsylvania.
The acquisition follows $100 million in financing H1 was completed in November. The company said at the time that in addition to developing new features and hiring more staff, it would use the funding to expand its network of clinicians and researchers.
