Breaded Chicken:
- chicken breast – I use boneless skinless chicken breasts here. Feel free to substitute chicken thighs if you like, or even use pre-cut chicken fillets to shave off a few minutes of prep time.
- Shredded pork rind – This ingredient replaces cornstarch in traditional recipes, making it healthy crispy Sweet and sour chicken.if you have leftovers Homemade Pig Skin, which is the perfect use for them! Otherwise, any regular crust (not crispy) will do.For paleo or overall 30 options, you can use different cornstarch substitutesuch as arrowroot.
- Egg – Helps the crumbs stick to the chicken. Use whole large eggs.
- Avocado Oil – For shallow frying. Feel free to substitute any neutral cooking oil.
- sea salt and black pepper – For easy seasoning.
Variation: keep it simple and skip the breadcrumbs.
If you want to do this, all you need is chicken, salt, pepper and oil to fry.

Sugar-Free Sweet and Sour Sauce:
- Avocado Oil – For sautéing peppers and garlic.
- Bell peppers -Other healthy sweet and sour chicken recipes can also use yellow onion and pineapple chunks in the sauce (you can too), but I just kept it simple with bell peppers. I use yellow and red peppers here, but use your favorite color!
- garlic – Fresh tastes best, you can also use canned minced garlic To save time.
- ketchup – I do it myself Sugar Free Ketchup Recipe To keep it keto friendly, but use whatever ketchup you like.
- water – Thin the sauce to the perfect consistency.
- Besti Luo Han Guo Powder Allulose Blend – my favorite sugar free and keto sweetener Tastes and dissolves just like powdered sugar! This one tastes absolutely the best, but you can replace it with a different sweetener powder if you want (use mine Sweetener Conversion Chart exact amount). Keep in mind that other powdered sugar substitutes (certainly grainy) will make the sauce tougher or more aftertaste. Unsweetened Honey Substitutes (or regular honey to suit your lifestyle) would be a better choice if you need it.
- Apple Cider Vinegar – Adds a subtle flavor to the keto sweet and sour sauce. White vinegar or rice vinegar will also work.
- Coconut Amino Acids – A delicious and soy-free alternative to soy sauce. You can use traditional soy sauce if it suits your lifestyle.
- sea salt and black pepper
