A dog named Ruger bravely saved his owner, an Alabama named Zachary Petr, from being attacked by a bronze snake.
According to WBMA-LD, Pate, a resident of Tuscaloosa, took a walk by the lake in the afternoon with his 18-month-old Cane Corso dog Ruger. Then Pat felt Ruger biting his leg.
“Except for playing ball, he never bit me,” Pater wrote in a letter. Facebook This post has been shared more than 45,000 times. “He became very aggressive and bit me, then wrapped around my leg, his bare claws really got in, I turned around and scolded him, and he ran around me like avoiding me.”
When Pat lowered his head, he saw something in Ruger’s mouth. At first, he thought it was a stick, because Ruger often played with a stick. However, he soon realized that the “stick” was actually a copper-headed snake, a venomous brown snake.

Ruger smashed the snake on a log, then let go of it. After that, Pate was not sure if the snake was still alive. So he took a stick and beat the snake to death.
Immediately afterwards, Pate developed an overwhelming gratitude for his dog’s behavior. His dog saved his life, or at least saved his way to the hospital.
“I was sitting on the ground, just holding him, trying to figure out why my dog loves me so much and jumped in front of me to protect me,” Pater told the aforementioned news station. “Knowing that he risked his life to save me, my tears almost filled my eyes.”
If the snake bit him, Pate would have to run about 250 yards to his truck. Pat said that running allows snake venom to pass through his body faster.
“So far, this guy is my guardian. The best dog ever awarded to this guy.” Pater wrote in his Facebook post. “Thanks to my best friend.”
“It really makes sense for why’dog’ is the reverse of’God’,” Pat told WVTM.
Compared with other more deadly snakes, the venom of copper-headed snakes is mild. Generally not dead. Their bite usually causes severe swelling, pain, and may damage local tissues. But if a person goes to the hospital after being bitten, they are likely to survive.
However, its venom can be fatal to dogs, depending on the size of the animal, wrote veterinarian Dr. Henri Bianucci Postal and courier.
Copper-headed snakes are usually not aggressive. Biannucci said that if they attacked, it was probably because the dog attacked first or accidentally stepped on the snake.
He added: “The location of the bite, the number of bites, and the efficiency of venom delivery are variables that determine the severity of the bite.” But if a person quickly takes their dog to the veterinarian, it is likely to survive.
