When Ava started feeding the wild birds that flocked to her bird table, they started leaving her trinkets in return. These gifts seem innocent at first, but they seem to take on a deeper meaning very quickly.
It wasn’t until Ava met Callum, the handsome parish priest, that she couldn’t help but wonder if the birds had been trying to drive her out of the house. But does their curious act help heal Ava and turn her and Callum into the lovebirds they clearly aspire to be?
Hope and Happiness by Ali McNamara in Bluebell Wood
*Blue Suzuki’s Hope and Happiness It was the first Ali McNamara book I ever read, so I’m glad I got stuck in it.
This is definitely worth a read if you want a light read and a little escape from the countryside.
I loved all the characters and was totally immersed in the picturesque little village. There are some good twists in the story that make me want to keep reading to see what happens next.
Although I do feel that the main character Ava is portrayed as being much older than she actually is. She was only in her early 40s, but there were times when I expected her to be much older than that.
The storyline is gentle and sweet, perfect for reading in the garden on a sunny day.
I’ll be checking out more books by Ali McNamara.
