When I see Matt Damon’s anger spreading, it’s my recurring thought Recent interview and era The actor admitted that he only recently stopped using slander to refer to homosexuals.

“The word my daughter called’f-slur for gays’ was very common when I was a kid, and there were different apps,” the actor said, explaining that he recently made a joke with this slander. His daughter was irritated and wrote a lengthy “paper” (Matt’s words) explaining why the word was offensive. After reading, Damon told his daughter that he would promise to “let f-slur retire!”

Twitter immediately condemned.This tweets Yes Fast and furious: “If Matt Damon used homophobic slander on the table in 2021, you can’t tell me he didn’t use racist slander.” “Holy God Matt Damon is a dumb.” “Matt ·Matt Damon’s daughter inspired me to stop using the term Masshole to flush the canoe. Personal growth is never too late.” “I am very annoyed by all those who complain about “Twitter thugs” criticizing Matt Damon. Nothing. A genuine call for a boycott or any significant attempt to “cancel” him. It’s okay to call a rich bastard a bastard. He’ll be fine.”

As a kid who grew up in Appalachia, he was often ridiculed as homosexual. He himself was called “f-slur” too many times, and you might be surprised to find that I disagree. But for me, this is a story about someone getting better. Matt Damon said something offensive. His daughter corrected him and explained why it was offensive. Matt Damon realized that he was hurting himself and changed his behavior. That should be over.

certainly, Twitter Can’t accept a story about someone getting better without making sure that he was completely blown in the process. The social justice mob did not appreciate the grace of changing his mind and giving up hurtful language, but dragged Damon to the proverbial coal pile, desperately using it as evidence of his homophobia.

Matt Damon is not gay. But it’s fair to ask, how could a Hollywood actor with a Harvard education not know that f-slur is a slander.

The problem is, the answer is not outrageous. I remember trying desperately to explain to my heterosexual male friends-they have been my friends for years, they have always supported me, and even defended me from homophobia-why this word bothers me so much. Like Matt Damon, they are not gay. But they can hardly regard it as slander.

Of course, this is a slander. This word is hurtful and degrading. I despise it. If Damon redoubled his emphasis on homosexual slander after his daughter criticized him, if he becomes defensive and stubborn, there will be plenty of room for anger.

but it is not the truth. Instead, as Damon explained, he received new information, realized that what he said was harmful, and changed his behavior.

Matt Damon learned from his daughter and grew up as a man.It’s so sweet, it might be a Disney Channel original movies. So why would people attack him?

If our left, including those in the gay community, take social progress seriously and expand the acceptance and tolerance of LGBT people, then Matt Damon should be praised, not condemned. He is the role model we should hope for on the left: when people are exposed to new ideas and ideas, they become more tolerant and less offensive.

Many people on the left did not celebrate this, nor did they regard him as a positive example of an old dog learning new tricks, but chose to become a ruthless bastard. “But how could he not know?” is a recurring question, and “what other slander does he use?”

This is completely wrong. I don’t want to live in a world where admitting mistakes and expressing remorse will lead to a team of self-righteous swearing moral accusations. People must have room for growth. We must give grace and understanding, not contempt and indignation, to those who have experienced changes in their hearts. We must welcome progress instead of asking mockingly “Why have you taken so long?”

This is not the way to win people. If someone feels sad because they admit mistakes and try to be better, why bother?

I admire Matt Damon’s honesty. I hope people become more friendly. I want people to listen when LGBT people say something is offensive. I hope that they will be open to changing their thinking, their words and their behavior, rather than taking defensive measures or following them. When they do, I hope they get a little bit of understanding instead of being laughed at as paranoia that took too long to see the light.

Change your mind with dignity and humanity. I hope people all over the world will do what Matt Damon did. The left should be the same.
