Information for Visitors to South Korea

South Korea, also known as the Republic of Korea (ROK), is an East Asian country located at the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula and bordering North Korea on land. The Korean peninsula is divided by an extremely thin border, offering visitors a range of experiences, breathtaking panoramas, and 50th-century culture and history. The lower Paleolithic period records the earliest human existence on the Korean peninsula, and its first kingdom is mentioned in Chinese records as early as the first millennium BC.fastest and Easiest way to navigate Big cities are made by using the subway system.

South Korea

The systems of Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju and Daejeon are all unique. Transportation in Korea is reasonably priced, hygienic and safe. South Korea has about 15 large airports. According to Korean mythology, Joseon (Gojoseon) was founded by Tangun in 2333 BC. Chinese texts from the early 7th century mention the Five Koreas. Gojoseon expanded until it dominated Manchuria and a northern part of the Korean peninsula. Gija Joseon is thought to have been founded in the 12th century BC, but its existence and historical significance are still debated today.

In 108 BC, the Han Dynasty overthrew the Wei-Manchurian Joseon and established four counties in the northern part of the Korean peninsula. Around this period, Lelang County was demolished and rebuilt, and its location slowly moved to Liaodong. As a result, its power was weakened, and it only functioned as a trading center until Goguryeo conquered it in 313. The generosity of Koreans towards foreigners is heavily influenced by etiquette, and their innate kindness is one of their most attractive traits. In a society that is sometimes contemplative, but also polite and affirming, the time-honored Confucian tradition sets the example for a strong sense of civic pride.

Whether you’re at a tourist information center, asking for directions, or getting bogged down in a conversation, helpful places abound. When traveling, people make up half the experience, and the Korean Tribe is where you’ll love it. You can walk through beautiful scenery and look out at the splendid ocean. Although South Korea is known as the “Land of Morning Calm,” if you visit Seoul, the center of Asia’s third-largest economy, you probably won’t find peace there. This 24-hour city exemplifies a no-nonsense attitude with its uninterrupted movement and hard-working mentality. In this colourful city, where beautifully restored palaces coexist with lively night markets and striking modern architecture, you’ll hardly encounter a helpful tourist information desk, busy subway station or taxi around the corner.

Due to the small size of South Korea and the well-established transportation system, it is always possible to reach peaceful places despite the urban development. Hike to the top of the Rocky Mountains, which are surrounded by densely forested national parks, some of which are turned into ski areas in the winter. Sailing to isolated islands will take you farther from civilization than you might think. Stay in a simple hanok inn located in one of the peaceful villages surrounded by rice fields. No matter where you are, whether in Boryeong, Gwangju, or Seoul, there is almost always some kind of celebration to attend due to the packed calendar of festivals and events.

Local food offers a tantalizing variety of meals, flavours, smells and textures to enjoy with plenty of toast and a dizzying array of alcoholic cocktails. No wonder Koreans take pride in their culinary culture. The main course of any Korean meal is traditional rice accompanied by soup and banchan. However, these meals are often served to diners as main dishes in Korean restaurants.
