Social media platforms have banned the latest TikTok trend “Milk Box Challenge” to prevent more people from being injured in this behavior.
The challenge requires participants to stack milk crates like a pyramid, and then walk up from one side like a staircase and walk down on the other side. However, many videos ended with the collapse of the pyramid and the participants being injured due to the lack of stability of the crate.
In order to prevent users from trying to challenge themselves by shooting themselves to get likes, Douyin is banned Search results for the label “Milk Box Challenge”.
“Tik Tok Content that promotes or glorifies dangerous behavior is prohibited, we delete videos and redirect searches to our community guidelines to block such content,” a spokesperson said in a statement to CNN.
“We encourage everyone to proceed with caution, whether online or offline.”
Those trying to search for Milk Crate Challenge on TikTok will now see a message instead of a series of videos featuring new trends.
“This sentence may be related to behavior or content that violates our guidelines. Promoting a safe and positive experience is TikTok’s top priority. For more information, we invite you to review our Community Guidelines,” Message read.
The prevalence of this challenge has prompted doctors to speak out and advise people not to try this behavior because of possible injury.

As the Los Angeles Times pointed out, Virginia-based pediatric plastic surgeon George Gantsoudes shared a tweet warning people that their health insurance might not cover the injuries caused by the milk box challenge.

Prior to the implementation of the ban, there have been many reports of injuries to persons involved in the challenge.
