Globalstar Europe Satellite Services Ltd announced today that its SmartOne Solar satellite IoT transmitter is being deployed to provide satellite tracking for leisure boat owners.

The announcement came when Advanced Tracking, a Globalstar integrator partner, achieved the milestone of deploying more than 2,000 Globalstar SmartOne C IoT tracking devices for its customers in the marine sector.

Advanced Tracking recently integrated SmartOne Solar into its www.konectis.com platform, which is a portal designed for leisure sailing users. Konectis has multiple functions that can be managed through a dedicated dashboard and a user interface that includes an anti-theft alarm system. With the addition of SmartOne Solar, Advanced Tracking now enables fleet owners and individual boating enthusiasts to benefit from efficient, ubiquitous satellite IoT-enabled ship tracking.

“In the recreational marine sector, when you own a boat within a range of 10-25m, your budget is important,” Said Christophe Allan, co-founder and managing director of Advanced Tracking.

“We know that by integrating SmartOne Solar, we will have the ideal solution to provide cost-conscious ship owners with an affordable, high-quality solution to track their ships,” Allen noticed.

Globalstar SmartOne Solar can monitor any type of assets, whether fixed or mobile, including containers, transport trailers, construction/agricultural machinery and fleets.

SmartOne Solar provides a low-maintenance and cost-effective tracking option that is powered by a solar rechargeable battery that can provide years of service life. The equipment runs continuously for several months and reports twice a day without exposure to sunlight.

Allan pointed out that the main advantages of SmartOne Solar are ease of use and cable-free flexibility.

“The advantage of SmartOne Solar is that it does not need to be connected to a power source, so the device can be placed in many different locations on the boat according to your preferences. It is small in size, easy to install, and has good performance and quality. Because the device is autonomous, you only need to install it. NS.”

Allen emphasized the growing understanding that satellite connections are essential for reliable, ubiquitous coverage. He said: “Users can try other technologies, such as VHF or GSM, but once you are out of range, you will lose track of the ship.”

The partnership between Globalstar and Advanced Tracking dates back to 2010. At that time, Advanced Tracking introduced Globalstar SmartOne C to its platform to replace/complement its existing satellite communications provider. Allen explained that one reason is the need for a backup satellite system to reduce the exclusive dependence on a supplier. “Price is also an important factor,” He added: “SmartOne and Globalstar’s airtime packages provide customers with high-quality solutions at very reasonable prices.”

Advanced Tracking was established in 2004 to provide satellite tracking solutions and communication systems. Its comprehensive Konectis portal, whose functions and communication preferences can be customized, is dedicated to meeting the needs of its marine customers, mainly owners of recreational sailboats and motorboats.

“We are very pleased that SmartOne Solar is helping recreational boat owners to track their precious vessels in a cost-effective manner,” Said Mark O’Connell, general manager of Globalstar EMEA. “We congratulate Advanced Tracking for providing an efficient solution for the fast-growing leisure marine market, which helps to track, improve safety and security, and prevent potential failures.”
