Sierra Wireless today announced the launch of its 5G hosted network service in the United States, providing customers with the superior speed and ultra-low latency of 5G cellular wireless connections for critical business applications.
Sierra Wireless’ fully managed network services provide end-to-end broadband solutions for permanent, temporary and backup connections in retail, food and beverage, healthcare, digital signage, kiosks/POS and distance e-learning applications. These turnkey solutions provide simple, cost-effective and reliable Internet connections without upfront equipment purchase costs, guarantee uptime and seamless management, and are accountable through a single point of contact.

Sierra Wireless’s managed network service offers three options:
- Basic, a cost-effective backup cellular solution for non-critical systems.
- The premium version includes all the functions of the basic service and professionally installed equipment, active monitoring and higher service level agreements.
- Pro, which includes all the features in the Premium package service, as well as dual modem options on the XR router series, 5G data plans, and more options for custom management requirements.

IDC’s recent research comes from its 2020-2024 U.S. 5G connection forecasts, April 2020 and global 5G connection forecasts, 2019-2023, December 2020, pointing out “There is no doubt that 5G will change the ability of enterprises to use their higher network speeds and capacity to create new use cases.” IDC predicts that by 2023, 5G mobile and user IoT connections will reach 1.01 billion.
Availability
Sierra Wireless’ 5G managed network service will be available to US customers in the fourth quarter of 2021.
