A woman shared on Mumsnet that her husband lied about proposing with the same engagement ring as his ex-girlfriend-which made the Internet angry.
On November 28, the lady named Ring222 posted on this discussion-based website explaining that she had been married to her husband for several years and they had a child.
For many years, she has suspected that the ring proposed by her husband “was given to her ex,” who was also the mother of her stepson.
She revealed: “When we first met, I knew he was still wearing a ring, because he only found out when we moved in and moved a lot of things.”
“This is about 7 years ago! The ring seems to have disappeared, and he said he just got rid of it.”
The woman went on to add that she really wanted to know what he did with it, and when asked, he “evaded” the topic.
She continued: “A few months later, I asked him directly, and he said absolutely not. He bought mine from an X store in a small town near us, and went to choose it with a friend, etc.
“Anyway, to make a long story short, now it is the same ring, which has been exposed.”
The Mumsnet user ended the post by asking the forum heir’s opinion, explaining that she was very frustrated with the discovery, and wrote: “I am satisfied with everything.
“But I am upset about him lying, and I am also upset because this is the ring he gave to another woman.
“To a certain extent, I am also embarrassed. This is the mother of his child. She is not the best to me. God knows if she finds it, but if she finds it, it makes me cringe. She is such a person. I’m glad to know that I didn’t realize it.”
The story of this dissatisfied mother attracted more than 300 pieces of advice and support on the website, and most people were angry with the way their husband treated her.
A Mumsnet user Starrynight87 wrote: “I will also be hurt by lies and gestures.”
Another person, AFS1, added: “It also bothers me. I don’t think you are unreasonable.”
Eerie Silence revealed: “I will be eliminated. He could have sold it for you to buy a new one, or change this, but it is certain that recycling rings is a big problem. I am not a big jeweler. In fact, My ring is about 500 pounds. But it is new.”
Frazzledasarock admits: “I feel the same way. He sounds lazy and indiscreet at best. Go to the jeweler and replace it with what you want, and add some money to upgrade it.”
Interrobanger thought: “That’s horrible. Not only is he a mean bastard, but he lied, lied, lied, lied in front of you. I find this difficult to overcome.”
DreadingChristmasAlready has shared: “I don’t think you are unreasonable at all. In my opinion, lies and rings are acts of assholes.”
American tradition stipulates that the price of an engagement ring should be as high as a two-month salary, but this idea was originally a marketing strategy initiated by the De Beers Diamond Company in 1947.
According to The Knot’s data, the average price of an engagement ring in the U.S. in 2019 was $5,900.
