The late Bo Biden, the president’s son Joe BidenTwenty years ago, Kosovo posthumously awarded a medal for his work in the Balkan countries.
In a pre-recorded message Facebook On President Vjosa Osmani’s page, Biden called this honor “incredible” and “very honored to recognize our son’s legacy.”
“The country of Kosovo is in the hearts of the entire Biden family,” the president said to Bo Biden’s children in front of the camera.
Bo Biden worked in Kosovo after the 1998-1999 war and also worked in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He died of brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.
“Bo’s work in Kosovo is from the heart. He fell in love with this country,” Biden said.
The president added: “As a lawyer of the U.S. Department of Justice, he voluntarily traveled to Kosovo to support your independence and a new democracy, especially the rule of law.”

Osmani will preside over a ceremony on Sunday to award Bo Biden the Presidential Medal of Law after his death.
Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, a decade after the brutal war between Albanian separatist rebels and Serb forces from 1998 to 1999.The war ended in 78 days NATO Air strikes drove out the Serb army and a peacekeeping force entered.
Most Western countries recognize Kosovo, but Serbia and its allies Russia and China do not. Tensions in Kosovo continue to be the source of unrest in the Balkans.
