Ken Sim was elected mayor of Vancouver, British Columbia, last month after campaigning on a platform that prioritized public safety and affordability.
He is the city’s first Chinese-American mayor and leader of the newly formed ABC Vancouver party, which wants to hire 100 new police officers and 100 mental health nurses as part of a community policing approach.
Born to Chinese immigrants and raised in Vancouver, Sim holds a business degree and worked as an accountant and investment banker. He also co-founded two Vancouver companies – Rosemary Rocksalt and Nurse Next Door, with over 8,000 team members, Nurse Next
Door now serves more than 200 locations in three countries.
Xin entered politics for the first time in 2018 and ran unsuccessfully for mayor for the first time.
He is married to Teena Gupta, with whom he has four sons.
