Last year, the mHUB accelerated incubation program launched its first queue focusing on industrial Internet of Things/smart manufacturing. They were selected from nearly 500 global applicants who came to Chicago and participated in the program that began earlier this year.

“For the past two years, I was in the Bay Area, where everyone focused on software, but mHUB focused on hardware,” co-founder Ilayda Buyukdogan explained, A company that manufactures miniature electronic measuring instruments, is currently participating in the smart manufacturing queue of the mHUB accelerator program.
“My first impression of mHUB was very good. It provides access to tools that I don’t normally have, and can complete prototyping in 45 minutes,” said Chief Operating Officer David Evans. , A company that manufactures the most advanced chip and circuit board cooling solutions, also participates in the smart manufacturing queue. “The tools, people, and network are great. It really is an all-encompassing accelerator.”
As the executive director of the MedTech cohort, I have seen how the partnership between healthcare and early-stage companies can lead to game-changing innovations. In fact, because of the pandemic, we have all seen communities all over the world work together to solve problems. This collaborative approach is at the core of the mHUB accelerator program, which first focuses on identifying demand-driven technologies, and then provides multiple tools and industry links to accelerate the road to commercialization.
I joined the mHUB organization and have more than 15 years of experience in global innovation leadership, and recently led Baxter’s external innovation to increase open innovation partnerships. Before joining Baxter, I was the Assistant Director and Head of Business Development of the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Technology Commercialization and Licensing Group. There, I spent 9 years developing, protecting and licensing intellectual property owned by universities, and supporting the commercialization team’s efforts to establish relationships with venture capital groups. I look forward to working with industry partners and mentors in this program to quickly commercialize the new technologies that can change patient care.
The mHUB accelerated incubation program will select 8-10 most promising startups from global applicants to participate in this six-month intensive incubation program. It includes rapid product development and prototyping, business development and leadership training, coaching, customer verification and piloting. The selected MedTech startups will be selected based on market opportunities identified by mHUB and its industry partners, including remote monitoring solutions, diagnostic technology, wearable devices, low-cost analyte sensing, tissue and nerve repair technology, and minimally invasive ECMO Technology, designed to replace the functions of the heart and lungs, to name a few.

The selected team will receive:
- An initial cash investment of US$75,000 and additional resources worth more than US$600,000, including US$56,750 for prototyping and contacting the mHUB Hardtech development team in exchange for a 5% proportional right
- Compete for follow-up investment from an additional investment pool worth at least $345,000
- Direct access to more than 60 limited partners and an extensive network of venture fund partners
- Visit the mHUB community composed of 420 hardware technology startups, 1,200 entrepreneurs, 500 U.S. manufacturers, more than 100 industry partners, and 60 community partners for 2 years
- Direct support from a deep talent pool of mentors from industry experts and full support from the mHUB organization
MedTech is the second vertical accelerator queue to be launched in the next 3.5 years. It consists of six people and will be supported by the mHUB product impact fund. Future verticals include energy technology, smart mobility, smart buildings and homes, and smart cities. For more information about accelerators, please visit .
