I totally agree with Assunta Ng’s publisher blog about “what we learned from the election”. From the elections in Virginia and New Jersey to the appointment of Steve Hobbs, people said they wanted moderates. People are tired of extremists on both sides. We just want to return to some kind of normalcy.
I am a fire commissioner in Snohomish County and a member of the board of directors of Sno911, the county’s emergency call center. I work with all police chiefs who are very committed to protecting the public.
They absolutely oppose police violence. The police need more resources instead of focusing on other social issues. Calling for “removal of funding for the police” is absolutely meaningless.
Voters in Seattle are tired of closed stores and anti-commercial attitudes. I was lucky enough to meet many old people who endured all the discrimination and injustice in Chinatown. They did not go out to burn the city. They quietly established their own businesses, stepped into politics and made effective changes. This is the true immigration story.
Sincerely,
