When Madonna shouted DaBaby at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, Florida, she didn’t flinch.
On Thursday, the “virgin” singer joined the list of celebrities criticizing the 29-year-old rapper after he made many comments that were considered homophobic during his performance at Rolling Loud Miami last weekend.
“Message to DaBaby-if you want to post hate speech about HIV/AIDS to the LGBTQ+ community, then please know your facts,” Madonna wrote Instagram, Make sure to mark DaBaby.
“After decades of hard scientific research-there are now life-saving drugs available for children born with HIV, as well as people infected with HIV through blood transfusions, dirty needles or body fluid exchanges,” she continued. “These new ARVs can keep AIDS patients alive for the rest of their lives! AIDS will not spread by standing next to someone in a crowd.”
In his performance, DaBaby said: “If you don’t show HIV, AIDS, or any kind of fatal sexually transmitted disease today, it will make you die within two to three weeks, and then turn your phone on… Dude People, if you are not taking drugs in the parking lot, put your cell phone lighter.”
Madonna quoted this sentence in her post and added: “I want to light up my phone and pray for your ignorance. No one will die of AIDS in two or three weeks. Thank God.”
DaBaby’s comments on women’s private parts are not in line with the superstar’s views.
“And your sexist remarks about women—need to smell like water will only encourage more discrimination against women, who fight against the oppression of their lives under the constraints of the male gaze every day,” Madonna continued. “People like you are the reason we still live in a world divided by fear. Regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation or religious beliefs, all people deserve dignity and respect. Amen.”
The day before her post, Elton John, an openly gay and long-time HIV-supporting music legend, shared the facts about the disease that affects more than 70 million people around the world, and attacked DaBaby’s comments.
“In the recent DaBaby show, we read about HIV misinformation and homophobic statements, and we were shocked by this. This encourages stigma and discrimination, contrary to what our world needs to fight the AIDS pandemic.” wrote The Elton John AIDS Foundation is on the singer’s social media.
At the same time, Demi Lovato released Instagram A picture of a man with the words: “HIV is not a homosexual disease.”
On Wednesday, DaBaby apologized for his “insensitive” remarks claim “You all digested this mistake” and asked those who opposed his speech to “show the same support when the racist police killed one of our black people.”
“Anyone affected by HIV/AIDS has the right to feel upset. Although I have no intention of offending anyone, what I said is insensitive. So I apologize,” he wrote Emoji with folded hands. “But the LGBT community…I won’t be tripped by you, am I. Your business is your business.”
