Mahomes, Rogers, Brady are the best MVP candidates


Tom Brady defeated Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl, but no one has a better chance of becoming the league’s most valuable player than the star quarterback of the Kansas City Chiefs. Mahomes is the overwhelming betting favorite to win the 2021 NFL MVP Awards.

At the beginning of the preseason, Mahomes led all players with an MVP odds of +500 FanDuel sports bettingThe 25-year-old player has twice the chance of winning MVP Aaron Rodgers as MVP, and Rogers ranks second in the contender list with +1000. Brady ranks third with an MVP odds of +1200.

Mahomes won the 2018 MVP award in his first full season as a starter for Kansas City. He won the Super Bowl MVP award the following season.Mahomes leads all quarterbacks with 316 passing yards per game and 1.0% interception rate, while ranking third 2020 MVP Contest.

Entering the upcoming season, Rogers, whose status is unknown, won his third MVP award last season with the league’s best passing score of 121.5 and 48 touchdowns. When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Mahomes Chiefs in the Super Bowl, Brady won his fifth Super Bowl MVP award, but the last time he became a regular season MVP contender was in 2017.

Josh Allen ranked fourth with an MVP odds of +1300. Allen finished second in the 2020 MVP game with 4,544 yards, 37 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions. The Buffalo Bills quarterback also added 421 yards and 8 points.

Dak Prescott finished his 2020 season with an ankle injury in Week 5 and received an MVP odds of +1500. Lamar Jackson has +1700 odds to win his second MVP award in three seasons.

Matthew Stafford (+1700), Russell Wilson (+2000) and Justin Herbert (+2000) also have MVP odds of 20/1 or higher.

Kyler Murray (+2300) and Baker Mayfield (+2600) are seen as possible MVP candidates. The two quarterbacks won first place in the 2018 and 2019 NFL drafts.

Ryan Tannehill (+3200) has been one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the NFL for the past two seasons. In 28 games against the Tennessee Titans, Tennyhill had a passing score of 110.6, 55 touchdown passes and 13 interceptions.

According to the betting odds, the top 15 MVP candidates are all quarterbacks. Running backs Christian McCaffrey (+5000) and Derek Henry (+5000) are the only non-quarterbacks with MVP odds higher than 75/1.

Adrian Peterson was the last non-quarterback player to win the MVP award in the 2012 season. Defensive players have been named MVPs for 35 years.
