Make Your Bathroom Look Stylish: Budget-Friendly Ideas

*This is a collaborative post.

If you’re not a fan of your bathroom, it’s time to do something about it. If you haven’t done much decorating in the past, there are lots of easy ways to give your bathroom a trendy new look without spending too much money or effort. Bathrooms are a place for tranquillity and warmth. This is the most personal and private space in your home and for that reason, you want it to be the most inviting. A room for self-care, from bubble baths to hot rejuvenating showers it is a place you should enjoy spending time in. Here are some budget-friendly hacks to make your bathroom unique and welcoming.

Deep Clean

To start with, give your bathroom a deep clean. Often a clean is all you need to make your home feel like a whole new place. It’s easy and cheap and once those tiles and mirrors are shining it will make your bathroom feel and look as good as new. You don’t need anything fancy just give everything a clean and polish. Wash the windows and throw them open to let in some fresh air. Don’t bother with expensive speciality cleaners. Distilled white vinegar will have your glass sparkling in no time and a little baking soda will deodorise and remove stains from your toilet bowl. For a sweeter fragrance use a spritz of lemon, mix it with the baking soda and vinegar for an effective multi-surface cleaner. Not only are these homemade cleaners inexpensive they are kinder to the planet too.

Reseal and grout

You don’t have to do a complete remodel to make your bathroom tiles look new but sometimes no amount of cleaning is going to bring back the once-crisp white grout. But there are other ways to revitalise it, why not try a grout pen this is an inexpensive option that will remove stains and make the grout like new again. You could also take this opportunity to change the colour of the grout. Grout revivers come in a variety of colours. Charcoal grey is bang on trend and can look super modern with a white tile. Darker grouts will require less cleaning, so it is not only stylish but practical. Be sure to choose something that is mould resistant. Another big way to update your bathroom is to renew the silicone. It’s quick and easy to do and the results can make your bath or shower tray look new. Remember to fill your bath with water before you begin so you can seal the gap when it’s at its widest.

Colour

Most bathrooms these days are white so adding some colour to your bathroom is an easy step to update the look on a budget. You can afford to be brave with colour in a bathroom. Paint the walls a warm colour. Sage green is calm but more interesting than other neutral tones out there. Colour is not just limited to the walls. Add in pops of colour with furniture and accessories. A new bright and vibrant shower curtain can bring in some personality. Bathroom blinds are another great way to inject colour and texture while adding some privacy which is super important in a bathroom. When choosing, be sensible and look for ones that are 100% waterproof such as these at lifestyleblinds.com. The company offers many colour and fabric combinations to suit your styling, allowing you to be both elegant and practical. To finish off add a matching or contrasting coloured floor mat to tie it all together. Something soft underfoot when you come out of the shower or bath will keep you warm and comfortable.

Shelving

Adding some shelves can help with storage and give you a place to add some accessories. To save money why not upscale some you already have with a lick of paint or sand down some reclaimed wood for a rustic look. Do what you can with the space available. You can add attractive baskets and jars filled with towels and bathroom essentials. Decant your soaps and body wash into matching pump top bottles and use these to decorate the shelves. Not only does this look good it will reduce the clutter making it easier to keep clean. Have a home for everything you might need. By taking advantage of bare walls, you are saving valuable floor space making the bathroom feel less cramped.

Plants

The more plants in a bathroom the better. They are calming and balancing and offer so many therapeutic qualities to the space. Pop them on the windowsill, by the bath or hang them from the ceiling. No matter what style or theme you have, plants will always fit in. They will add colour and texture too. Adding something natural to your surroundings will awaken the decor and make it seem fresh and new. Their foliage softens harsh tiles and can create interesting shadows. Some plants need a lot of natural light , and some are fine in the dark be sure to pick something that will thrive in your space. Mirror

Bathrooms always need mirrors. There are practical reasons of course but they are also a great focal piece for the space. Check out charity shops for something unique without the hefty price tag. Reframing a mirror, you already own can give it a new lease of life and purpose. Team it with a handy little shelf underneath for some added storage. Mirrors are not only great design pieces they can make the space seem bigger and brighter. Hang it opposite the window and it will bounce the sunlight around the room.

Linens

We all love a hotel bathroom. There is something luxurious about all the white fluffy towels displayed in the bathroom. This is easy to replicate in your bathroom. To keep the cost down you can just use your existing towels if they still fit with your new aesthetic or buy some new hand towels and wash clothes which are usually the cheaper options. You can inject some colour or keep them classic white it’s up to you. Display them in creative ways on shelves or in baskets. A basket full of rolled washcloths looks so satisfying but is also useful. Hang towels on the back of the door to save space in a small bathroom and keep it neat and tidy. There are plenty of tutorials online showing you how to fold or roll them. Putting in that little bit of effort will really make your bathroom elegant.

Art

Often the bathroom is overlooked when we think of hanging artwork. But it can be a great gallery space. Artwork can add personality and creativity to an area that is otherwise bland and boring. It can be switched out easily to totally update the look of the space at any moment. Modern art can make the room trendy and fun or be different and try using an antique painting. Some framed prints will add a polished look to the bathroom making it feel complete. Chunky frames will make it stand out from the wall . Or place framed pieces on your shelves to mix up the accessories. Make it relevant to you and your theme.

Hopefully, with these simple ideas, you can take your bathroom from bland to grand with minimal expense. A bathroom needs to have that spa-like appeal and be our place of refuge and rejuvenation from our busy and hectic lives.
