Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof believes that signing Rafael Varane this summer is a “positive thing”, although he may lose to the outstanding former Real Madrid player.
Manchester United fans worry that once Varane’s signing is completed, the Swedish centre-back will ask for a transfer from Old Trafford, because he will become Lindelof’s main contender at this position.
But Lindelof is in a FotbollDirekt interview He welcomes Varane to stand on their side.
“I think it’s great. I play in one of the biggest clubs in the world and obviously you want good players. This will always be a competitive situation. I just think of it as [a] Sure we have good players in the club. It will only develop us. Personally, I think there is no problem,” said the newly appointed captain of the Swedish international team.
He said that after having some back problems last year, he doesn’t mind missing a game here and there. Varane can relieve some of the burden, which gives his body a better chance of staying healthy this season.
The Red Devils bought Varane from Real Madrid After the two parties agreed to a 41 million pounds (57 million US dollars) transfer agreement Late July. He was introduced to the audience at Old Trafford before the first game of the season against Leeds United on August 14.
Two weeks later, on August 29, the French central defender made his Premier League debut, assisting the only goal in the away game against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molinux Stadium.
Manchester United coach Solskjaer has many options in the defense, including Varane, Lindelof, Eric Bailey and captain Harry Maguire.
The recently concluded summer transfer window has witnessed a substantial increase in the squad of top English clubs such as Chelsea and Manchester City, but Manchester United is not far behind.
In addition to Varane, they also signed Dortmund’s Sancho and Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo.
