On Wednesday morning, a man was crushed to death by his car while passing by McDonald’s drive-thru.
Police said the man lost his bank card in a Vancouver restaurant at about 5.30 am when he was paying for his order.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) said in a statement released later that day that surveillance video showed that when the vehicle rolled forward, the driver reached for something and hit a “structure” that was driving the car.
The statement added that the driver was “trapped between the door and the frame” and was unable to get out of the car.
The Vancouver Fire Department summoned police officers to McDonald’s on Main Street and Terminal Street to assist in a bicycle collision, but the man was reported to have died on the spot. Police said his family and restaurant staff witnessed his death.
VPD police officer Tania Visintin said at a press conference: “The emergency crew tried to rescue the man, but unfortunately, he died on the spot.” “This is an absolutely heartbreaking scene. We asked the man’s family and My friend expresses my deepest condolences.”
The collision investigation team of the VPD and the British Columbia Coroner Service are now investigating.
