The Mi-28NE attack helicopter is operated by the “Russian Helicopter” holding company (Rostec As part of the 2021 Dubai Airshow International Exhibition flight plan, the national company conducted its first demonstration flight. Guests and participants have the opportunity to enjoy the complex aerobatics of combat helicopters with unique maneuverability.
Russia’s famous Mi-28 attack helicopter made its debut at the 2021 Dubai Air Show in its export modification. This is its first show outside of Russia. The Mi-28 helicopter family is known as the “Night Hunter” (according to the NATO classification or “Hall”). The Mi-28 has been included in the Russian Armed Forces list as the main attack helicopter of the Aerospace Forces. The “Night Hunter” demonstrated outstanding flight performance over Dubai. Mi-28 can perform many aerobatics that are only applicable to aircraft.
Many aerobatics are carried out at the lowest altitude and speed, which is particularly important for the survivability of the helicopter in real combat conditions. Under the supervision of Russian honorary test pilot and hero Sergey Barkov, the Mi-28NE demonstrated combat turns, nose dives, pitch maneuvers, backward flight, hovering and rotating climbs.
The pilot demonstrated the dynamic capabilities of the rotorcraft, its stability in the air, and its ease of control. The combat characteristics of the “Night Hunter” have been significantly expanded due to its mobility. Even when actively maneuvering, it can reach the target quickly.
The Mi-28 attack helicopter has powerful weapons and equipment, including a mobile automatic 30mm cannon with a left-right rotation range of ±110, three types of anti-tank missiles with a range of 6 and 10 kilometers, and air-to-surface missiles. Air missiles, two types of unguided missiles, suspended cannon containers, aerial bombs weighing up to 500 kilograms.
The main rotor blades of the “Night Hunter” can withstand 30 mm projectiles. It is equipped with high-power engines, each with a power of 2,400 horsepower. If the other engine is damaged, you can fly with one engine. “Night Hunter” has high survivability. The front and side windows of the cockpit are armored. The cabin of the Mi-28NE is protected by ceramic armor, and the Mi-28NE can effectively perform its mission in hot climates. It has a new exhaust infrared suppression system and particle separator.
Mi-28NE is manufactured by Rostvertol, which is part of the holding company “Russian Helicopters”.
