My new cookbook: Carnivores! (+Participation method)


If you’re a regular here, you’ve probably noticed that this year’s new recipes are a bit scarce.

I wish I could say I’m making time for my mental health. But, in truth, I’ve been busy driving myself crazy in new and exciting ways. That said: I’m writing a new book! A big, beautiful cookbook with a healthy-wise side.

It is called cabiwall It’s the healthy nutty defense of everyone’s favorite comfort food – with 125 wholesome recipes for noodles, grains, bread, and potatoes.

At the beginning of this year, when I asked everyone on Instagram to tell me their favorite carb dishes, their reaction was insane. This is probably the most responded poll I’ve ever had. This is a very helpful affirmation that I’m on the right track with this idea.

CARBIVORE is a culinary and dietary roadmap for eating carbohydrates as part of a healthy lifestyle and nutritious meals.

If trying a low FODMAP diet and researching SIBO has taught me anything, it’s What you eat is far less important than how you eat.

This is true both for our plant-specific niche approaches (like those in the FODMAP acronym) and more general categories that fall under the starch empire.

I’ll explain how our bodies use and metabolize carbohydrates, balancing ancient wisdom with existing data on how special diets affect gut health and hormone production (hint: low-carb methods are generally not the answer for women).

Armed with the foundation of this understanding, in the second half of this book, you’ll learn how to bring what we know about how carbohydrates can benefit or harm our bodies to the realm of culinary techniques.

I’ve been preoccupied, maybe fascinated, perfecting the recipes in this book, and they are some of my favorites.The recipe section of the book will be Types of Carbohydrates: Oats, rice, whole grains from around the world, potatoes, noodles, breads and crusts, beans and corn.

These recipes don’t stick to one diet, but they will be carefully labeled for low FODMAP people (my goal is 50% LF optional), plant-based eaters, and yes, even paleo! The overriding goal is that each recipe makes these carbs work smarter for you by balancing them with fiber, healthy fats, protein, and essential nutrients.

Like all of my books, this one doesn’t give you a specific meal plan or set of rules. Because we are all individuals dealing with different conditions and weaknesses. If we only focus on blood sugar, we may stay away from foods that support gut health. If we focus too much on things that don’t make us bloated (like white rice), we can damage our hormones. As with all things, balance needs to be maintained.

And, of course, that balance is impossible without acknowledging the elephant in the room: happy.

I think this book is a natural progression of both health items and SIBO made easy. This is truly a cookbook for healthy hedonism – an evidence-based reminder not to be afraid of food and to embrace all delicious possibilities.
