Nageshwar Mahadev is a small temple in Saputara by Saputara Lake. It is one of the oldest Shiva temples in Saputara (and Gujarat), exuding a peaceful atmosphere and unparalleled tranquility. Nageshwar Temple is located at the southern end of Saputara Lake and is one of the most famous temples in this hill station. This ancient Mahadev temple is close to Lord Chowk and is the itinerary of most tourists who come here to pray and admire its architecture and lush surroundings. The Nageshwar Mahadev temple enshrines Lord Shiva and is also called the snake god Nageshwar by many people.
In addition to the main god Shiva, this lovely temple also enshrines the statue of Swayambhu. An elegant Nandi statue wrapped in a red prayer cloth greets you at the entrance of the temple. This Shiva cow is considered his animal form, his most ardent admirer, and his transportation. Nandi means “give joy”. The Nandi of the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple is installed under the dome-shaped stone ceiling with a set of carved internal circular planes.
The architecture of this temple is relatively simple, and its secluded sanctuary has a beautiful black granite Shivlinga. The Nandi statue in the outer hall of the temple faces Lord Shiva. This holy place in Saputara is visited by a few devotees every day, but on the Hindu Shiva Mahashivratri, a large influx of devotees is seen. Temple Arti (prayer) is held every morning and evening. Are you interested in organized Pooja? The temple priest will guide you through the whole process.
