New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (Bill de Blasio) announced on Wednesday that New York City will provide cash rewards to residents who make appointments at vaccination points operated by the city.
De Blasio said at the press conference: “I personally think that you will be guaranteed to be rewarded then and there, and I think it will have a significant impact on people.”

De Blasio was asked about those who had already been vaccinated. He thanked people for “doing the right thing,” but clarified that the incentive is to get 41% of people vaccinated.
“It is in our interest to have every additional person vaccinated,” he said.
De Blasio also recently stipulated that all state hospitals and all medical staff facing patients must be vaccinated.
