Pakistani social activist and Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai announced on social media on Tuesday that she and her partner had “tied” at an Islamic ceremony in Birmingham, England.
The 24-year-old girl has always been a strong advocate of girls’ and women’s rights and education. She said that she married Arthur Malik in a small ceremony at her parents’ house.
“Today is a precious day in my life. Arthur and I have become partners for life,” Yusufzai said.
“We and our family celebrated a small nikkah ceremony at our Birmingham home. Please send us your prayers. We are very happy to go forward together.”
The youngest Nobel Prize winner in the world did not reveal much about her husband.
