In an increasingly divided political landscape, a new poll shows that American voters are unanimous on at least one issue: they do not fully agree with Democratic or Republican politics.
this polling, Posted on Monday economist/YouGov, found that most Americans believe that the politics of Democrats and Republicans are either left or right.Only 18% of respondents said that Republican politics is “approximately the same” as their own politics, while 19% said the same Democratic Party.
Although 36% Democratic Party Agree that the Democratic Party’s politics is roughly the same as their own. A full 50% of the people said that the politics advocated by the party is either the left-wing or the right-wing of their views. Only 27% Republicans Agree with the Republican Party, and 55% of people said that the party’s politics is biased towards their own.
Among Democrats, 22% said that the Democrats are “slightly to the right” or “more to the right” in their own views. Another 28% of Democrats said that the party is too left, while 15% did not decide.
38% of Republicans said that the Republican Party favored their politics slightly or more, while 17% said that the party was on their left, and 18% were undecided.
There are slightly more independent voters allied with the Republican Party than the Democratic Party, with a ratio of 22% to 18%. Perhaps unsurprisingly, most people disagree with the politics of either side.
44% of independents said that the Republican Party is politically on their right wing, while 14% are on their left wing. Similarly, 46% of independents said that the Democratic Party was on their left, and 14% said that the party was on their right.
When all interviewees were asked whether their “political views were closer” to those of each party, Democrats had a slight 52% to 48% advantage over Republicans.
Only 39% of the respondents said they have a good impression of the Democratic Party, while 50% said they opposed it. Only 31% believed that the Republican Party was favorable, and 57% of the majority held a negative view of the party.
The poll was conducted among 1,500 American adults between November 6 and November 9, including 1,258 registered voters. The margins of error for registered voters are 3% and 3.1%, respectively.
