Now, dental artificial intelligence company Overjet has expanded its platform to not only help dentists diagnose and treat gum disease, but also detect cavities.
The Boston-based company announced on monday It has 510(k) clearance from the FDA, and its software uses artificial intelligence to help dentists find more cavities. Overjet’s dental caries assistance system is designed to reduce tooth decay rates. To demonstrate its effectiveness, the company used the software to analyze more than 7,000 tooth surfaces; according to the company, by leveraging the technology, dentists were able to increase the accurate detection rate of tooth decay by about a third (32 percent).
Overjet isn’t the only company using artificial intelligence to help dentists detect cavities. But Overjet says the company stands out in the industry by having an artificial intelligence platform that can help detect cavities and diagnose and treat gum disease.
