Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi California has appointed former Republican Representative Denver Riggleman (Denver Riggleman) to join a special committee of the House of Representatives to investigate the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. They will join the senior staff of the committee.

Pelosi also invited Joseph Maher, the chief deputy general counsel of the Department of Homeland Security, to join the committee’s senior staff.

“Mr. Riegman has a deep background in national security and intelligence affairs,” committee chairman Benny Thompson said in a statement issued on Friday. “Mr. Maher has performed well in his career as a civil servant,” Thompson added, thanking Rep. Liz Cheney, Republican of Wyoming, for recommending him.

“I thank these two civil servants for their willingness to support the important work of the Special Committee by joining our non-partisan staff. They understand how close our democracy is to the disaster of January 6, and I commend them for their commitment to help ensure that we never You will see the same mistakes one day,” Thompson’s statement continued.
