Philly cheesesteak originated in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It consists of thinly sliced steak, grilled onions and melted cheese served in a sandwich (bread roll). How to Make Philly Cheese Steak Skillet
The key is to cook all vegetables until tender to avoid a raw aftertaste. Scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for more detailed instructions.




- Cook the mushrooms. Add 1 tablespoon oil to a large skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Stir in mushrooms and sauté for 3-6 minutes or until browned. Season with salt and pepper. Remove them from the heat and set aside.
- Fry steak. Add 1 tablespoon oil to skillet. Arrange beef in a single layer. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until browned. Remove from the heat and set aside with the mushrooms.




- Cook the peppers. Add garlic, green pepper and onion. Stir well and cook for another 4-5 minutes or until onions are soft.
- Combine everything. Return mushrooms and steak to skillet. Mix well.
- Let it melt. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and mozzarella cheese on top. Reduce heat to medium. Cover skillet and cook 2-3 minutes or until melted.
