FNSS continues to develop the Shadow Rider Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) concept, which has been exhibited at IDEF 2019. The newest member of the Shadow Rider series will demonstrate its 25mm unmanned remote control turret and its autonomous capabilities on IDEF 2021.
The Shadow Rider Combat UGV prototype was developed by the FNSS project combined with current technologies in the field of robots and autonomous systems to meet the complex and challenging combat requirements of modern battlefields.
Shadow Rider series vehicles are equipped with an autonomous kit developed by FNSS. Shadow Rider has an automatic driving mode of patrolling, following the leader and returning to the base, and also has multi-level protection for safe driving capabilities. The FNSS Autonomous Toolkit adopts an open architecture design that can quickly adapt to technological enhancements.
Shadow Rider Combat is equipped with a 25mm remote control turret, which is a turret specially designed for unmanned vehicles. The Show Rider Combat variant will not have automatic firing capabilities, the gunner will always be in the loop, and the firing decision will be given by dismounting.
Shadow Rider uses a modular design to support the military under various mission profiles, challenging environmental and geographic conditions. Different task kits can be easily integrated into the platform. Shadow Rider can be used for a wide range of mission profiles, including but not limited to direct fire support, reconnaissance, surveillance, communication relay tactical decoys, and logistics support.
As a reliable and combat-proven vehicle, the M113 has been selected as the basic platform for the Shadow Rider design concept. This approach allows FNSS to focus more on autonomous technologies. Shadow Rider series vehicles are equipped with diesel engines and have a cruising range of over 450 kilometers. Shadow Rider can reach speeds of >50 km/h on asphalt roads, climb 60% slopes and 30% side slopes, traverse 60 cm vertical obstacles, and has the ability to traverse 160 cm long trenches. The payload capacity of Shadow Rider is 4500 kg.
Shadow Rider FoV also provides optional manned driving capability.
