Ro Names New AARP Washington State Director

Margaret Rowe

AARP Washington announced Nov. 3 that Marguerite Ro has been selected as the new state director. She succeeds Doug Shadel, who is retiring after more than 30 years at the association.

Ro will direct the association’s activities on behalf of Washington State’s nearly 900,000 members.

“Ensuring that seniors and their families receive the support and resources they need is part of our recognition and respect for the contributions of seniors,” Ro said.

Ro is a Washington native. Prior to joining AARP, she served as Chief of Assessment, Policy Development and Evaluation, and Chief of the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Division of the Seattle and King County Public Health Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention. In 2018, she received the Public Health Leadership Award from the Washington State Public Health Association.
