The authorities are investigating a funeral home, where many decomposed bodies and fetuses were found.
According to reports, local fire and emergency medical services found the scene on Thursday after a strong odor was emitted from the Donald Funeral Home in Pocatello, Idaho. East idaho news.
The preliminary investigation of the site ended on Friday, and the authorities said that before the matter progresses, there are still documents to be reviewed and relevant parties need to be interviewed.
The corpses were found in a storage room that was not refrigerated, in various decomposed states, and some of them are said to be in serious condition. Investigators did not disclose the exact number of dead bodies found in the funeral home after the initial search. It is unclear why the corpse was left and began to decay, or why the fetus was stored at the location.
No one was arrested.

“We know that there are many unanswered questions about this case,” Pocatello police Chief Roger Shay said in Saturday’s case update. “Our department has the same problem. I want to assure the families and the public involved that the men and women of the Pocatello Police Department will work hard to provide answers.”
As the East Idaho News recently discovered through public records, the Donald Funeral Home was also involved in violations dating back to 2012.
In addition, the company had previously had an arrangement to donate corpses for study at Idaho State University (ISU). The school terminated this relationship in 2020, claiming that it had not received any promises from the institution for a long time. It was later discovered that although the school had no record of accepting them, the families were told that the bodies of their loved ones had been donated.
In the spring, ISU filed a formal complaint against the funeral home with the Bannock County Attorney’s Office. During an internal audit, the school found that its relationship with Donald had “multiple reasons for concern.”
Weekly newspaper The Pocatello Police Department and Donald Funeral Home have been contacted for comment on the matter.
