Rudy Giuliani lashed out at critics who believe he violated the law in a federal investigation and suspected that he was involved in illegal transactions with Ukraine.
In the interview NBC New YorkThe former mayor of New York City reflected on the lengthy investigation and insisted that he was innocent because the government was investigating whether he was an unregistered lobbyist for Ukrainian officials.
“I didn’t commit a crime. If you think I committed a crime, you might be really stupid because you don’t know who I am,” Giuliani said.
Giuliani also continued to say that the investigation may have been politically motivated because the crime under investigation occurred during his time as a lawyer for former President Donald Trump.
“It’s the one who put the Mafia in jail, terrorists in jail, Ed Koch’s commissioner in jail, and the worst person on Wall Street-I won’t submit (forms)? I mean, This is crazy,” Giuliani said.
Federal agents first executed the search warrant Giuliani’s apartment in New York In April, he confiscated his mobile phone, computer and iPad to investigate his dealings with Ukraine.
“If they want to put me in jail, I am very willing to go to jail. If they do, they will suffer the consequences in heaven,” he explained. “I didn’t, I didn’t do anything wrong.”
In addition to the federal investigation into his relationship with Ukraine, Giuliani also suspended his legal license in Washington, DC and New York for making false statements about the 2020 presidential election.
However, the frustration did not stop Giuliani From supporting local politicians. On Saturday, Giuliani shared a tweet expressing his support for New York City mayor candidate Curtis Silva.
“Curtis is a candidate for the people, not a political machine,” Giuliani tweeted.
Sliwa had previously praised Giuliani as the mayor of New York City in the 1990s for his efforts to combat the violent crime that plagued the area.
