Safran and Thai Aerospace Industries strengthen collaboration to support Royal Thai Air Force

Safran and Thai Aviation Industries strengthen their collaboration to support RTAF H135 and H225 engines.

Safran Helicopter Engines and Thai Aviation Industries have signed a contract to support the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) Arrius 2B2Plus, updating an existing contract for Makila.

Powering its H135 and H225M helicopters, more than 12 Arrius and 24 Makila engines are now covered by Safran’s Global Support Package (GSP). Since 2017, the protocol has proven its efficiency to meet RTAF’s requirements for optimal availability during its operations.

The agreement is executed by Thai Aerospace Industries, a certified repair center for all military and civilian engines in Thailand. It partnered with Safran to provide helicopter engine repair, inventory management and technical support expertise to ensure fleet availability.

Valérie Patuel, Managing Director of Safran Helicopter Engines Asia, said: “This contract is testament to the relationship we have built with RTAF over the years and marks a new milestone in our partnership. We are very proud of our ongoing commitment to the GSP contract to support Arrius and Makila powered rotorcraft because we are committed to providing world-class support to our operators.”

Under GSP, the customer guarantees that a serviceable engine is always available when needed. Other well-regarded GSP principles include budget predictability, thanks to fixed price per flight hour and close technology partnerships with OEMs.

GSP is part of EngineLife® Services, Safran’s range of solutions for helicopter engine operators.
