Sentient received the coveted SME Innovation Award ahead of the show, just days after Sentient was selected by the Australian government for a $2 million sovereign grant to manufacture the ViDAR search and surveillance pod.

- Global expansion plans by Paul Harris, Director of Business Development He joined from Thales Australia in February this year and later served as Sales Director for Protected Vehicles. He was previously a staff officer in the Australian Army, served in Iraq and was involved in a range of projects in the Australian Ministry of Defence, including the formative ASLAV multi-program defence acquisition programme.
- Mark Palmer, Chief Technology Officer, joined from Ocean Software, where he introduced agile development for the Air Force and training programs, after less than two years on the job. Previously, he held senior roles at Thales, where he started his early career with BAE Systems Australia.
- Appointments add strategic depth Chris Williams serves on the Advisory Board. Chris is well known throughout the Australian defence establishment. As an officer in the Royal Australian Navy, he has led a number of award-winning defence engineering practices and has advised numerous organisations including AIDN (Australian Industry and Defence Network), NSW Defence Innovation Network, Defence Council Executive Officer and SADIG (Sydney Aerospace and Defence Interest Group). “Sentient now has the opportunity to scale on a truly global basis and become a champion of Australian technology innovation.
