Singing plumber repaired the bathroom with the label head, obtained a record deal to release the first album

A plumber in Leicestershire, England, was awarded a record contract to release his first album after the owner of a music label overheard him singing while working in the bathroom.

Kev Crane, 49, discovered his musical talent when he spent six weeks renovating the bathroom in the home of Paul Conneally, owner of the local record company New Reality Records.

Connelly, 62, who founded the record company during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, said he often heard Klein sing while working.

“When he was laying tiles and pipes in the bathroom, he sang on the radio all day. I told him his voice was good and he mentioned that he had been writing and recording in his home studio,” Connelly Tell the media British Broadcasting Corporation.

Conneally was very impressed with Crane. Crane often reported on people like David Bowie and Meat Loaf, and he pulled him into the living room to talk about music.

According to Good News.com, Klein revealed that he has played music in the band before and is committed to creating his own album. He also said that he had set up his own home studio to make music, and Connelly was “shocked” when he said he wanted to hear more of his work.

“I sent him the album on Friday. I think if I don’t hear from him on the weekend, I can go back to work for him on Monday and continue to install his bathroom,” Klein said.

But Connelly liked the album. He described the album as “a sound of the 80s, but at the same time now”, and quickly offered Klein a record contract. Album, Why can’t I be you? It will be released by the label afterwards.

“It feels surreal. I never thought such a thing would happen. I like to write music. This is my hobby,” Klein told the BBC. “When I went to offer Paul, he mentioned that he owns a record company, but I didn’t think too much.”

Crane told the news media that he is currently researching new materials to see where the next phase might lead him.

“I have always liked music. When I was young, I was in several bands and wrote a lot of my own music,” he said. “I don’t have any expectations. I would love to be able to write songs for other artists, but if nothing else happens, it will be fun when it lasts,” he added.
