Sometimes I hit the jackpot with a meal that everyone eats really like. These Slow Cooker Ribs are one of those meals!
This recipe is a family favorite. It’s definitely one of my favorites because it’s so easy to make. You just throw everything in the crock pot and go home for the perfect dinner. These ribs are so tender, juicy, delicious and can be eaten in many different ways!

- Aromatics: I recommend freshly chopped garlic and freshly grated ginger for the best flavor.
- Apple Cider Vinegar, Oil, Coconut Sugar, Coconut Amino and Coconut Amino Teriyaki Sauce: These ingredients create the sweet, savory, and salty base for our marinade!
- green pepper: Gives the marinade a little more smoky, spicy flavor.
- broth: Chicken or beef soups work great.
- Ribs: You can use boneless or bone-in in this recipe. I recommend the grass-fed ribs!
How to Make Slow Cooker Ribs
This Beef Short Ribs recipe is made in the slow cooker and is super fast to prepare! Just a few minutes of hands-on time.
- Make the marinade: In a bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients.
- BBQ: Set the oven to broil, season the meat with salt and pepper, and place under the broiler. Cook until the top is browned.
- Slow cooker: Place the ribs in the saucepan and pour the marinade over it. Add the broth and cook.
- Service and enjoyment: When the cooking time is up, shred the meat and serve as desired.
Are beef ribs tough?
Essentially, ribs are tougher beef than other types of beef. However, when prepared properly, the ribs can be very tender, juicy and delicious!

Should I soak the ribs before cooking?
When it comes to slow cooker ribs, there really isn’t a need. The ribs are soaked in the marinade for the entire 10 hours of cooking, so no pre-soaking is required and they’ll be super soft and delicious.

Do you need to grill the ribs before slow cooking?
While roasting isn’t entirely necessary, I really recommend it!Roasting the beef chops before cooking in the slow cooker slightly caramelizes the outside adding another layer of flavor and Crisp the outside for a better texture.
If you have time, I definitely recommend baking first!
Do you need the liquid to cook the ribs in the slow cooker?
Yes! Long, slow cooking times in a slow cooker definitely call for liquids. Without it, the ribs can get too dry when cooked. The marinade and broth used added a lot of flavor and moisture.

- bake! Charring the meat before slow cooking will slightly char the outside for better texture and flavor.
- Use boneless or with bone. While bone-in meat does taste better, you can use bone-in or boneless chops in this recipe.
- Eat grass-fed beef. It’s better quality and more sustainable.

Leftover beef chops will keep for 4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator or 1-2 months in the refrigerator. reheat, If freezing, thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then heat in a 300ºF oven with a little broth to keep it from drying out.

- 2–4 tsp sriracha (depending on desired spice level)
- In a medium bowl, combine the marinade ingredients.
- Place oven on rack (high). Season the meat generously with sea salt and pepper. Place a baking sheet on the bottom of the broiler and bake 4 minutes per side until browned on top.
- Put meat in slow cooker.
- Pour in the marinade, pour in the beef or chicken stock, and let stand on low for 8-10 hours.
- When done, chop the meat off the bone for tacos, or serve Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes!
