A suspected gunman died after killing a man and seriously wounding a woman on the South Pier in South Haven, Michigan.
According to a South Haven report, on Friday, 18-year-old Aidan Ingles allegedly opened fire on the pier, hitting two people. police Department. The jet ski sitting near the pier was hit by a bullet, but the person on the jet ski was not injured. Ingles died of a gunshot wound he caused.
In 2018, Ingles told his parents that after being bullied by his classmates, he wanted to attack his high school, and he was investigated.
The boy’s stepfather told WOOD-TV in 2018, “He came to us and said he was really upset and said that he had been planning to do bad things. This was a big shock.”
“He wants to blow up the school,” the stepfather continued. “I was shocked. I couldn’t believe it…. We couldn’t think about it at the time. How could this develop to this point?”

After Ingles’ parents detained him, their home was searched, and the police eventually found Molotov cocktails and materials for making tube bombs. They also found two guns and several rounds of ammunition.
A police officer who testified at Ingles’s subpoena hearing said he knew that he was 15 years old at the time and would carry out his plan.
“I think it will happen in the morning (Monday),” the official said in 2018. “There is no doubt that terrorist acts will take place today. Guns will enter schools with bombs. The environment today will be very bad.”
When the shooting occurred on Friday, people fled the pier, while others on the beach hid behind barriers on the floor.
“Suddenly, people came running with their children. It was just running, scared and crying, which is a bit painful, especially for parents and children,” witness Jayne Sherwood told WWMT- TV.
South Haven Police Commissioner Natalie Thompson said that the shooting incidents that occurred today were “random”—the victims did not seem to know each other—and that such incidents were not common in South Haven.
Thompson said: “In general, random violence is rare and very disturbing.” “It is very unusual for our region.”
Thompson also stated that she did not want the incident that happened today “to become normal in South Haven because it is not.”
