On the morning of Sunday, October 2, police responded to multiple shootings that resulted in the fatal shooting of five people across the city.
At 1 a.m. Sunday, the Seattle Police Department (SPD) and the Seattle Fire Department reported a shooting in the 4300 block of University Way Northeast, with multiple injuries.
Police were patrolling the area when gunshots were heard. Police arrived quickly and found four non-life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police that two men fought outside a well-known bar and one man pulled out his weapon and fired 3-5 rounds. The gunman fled before police arrived. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
At 2:35 a.m. Sunday, police responded to multiple reports of a shooting in the 700 block of South Lane Street in the Chinatown International District (CID). Police recovered approximately 29 shell casings, two live rounds and bullet fragments. The site extends approximately 1 block north and approximately 1 block west of 700 S. Lane St. Four vehicles and two buildings were damaged by gunfire.
The Gun Violence Reduction Unit will conduct a follow-up investigation.
At 2:39 a.m. Sunday, police responded to reports of shooting in the 500 block of Second Avenue. Officers arrived at the scene and were unable to locate any victims or witnesses to the shooting. Minutes later, a man walked into Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg. Other officers interviewed the victim, who told officers he was shot by an unknown person.
The victim went on to say he was trying to end a fight when one of the men involved pulled a gun and fired at him.
