What is eggnog?
Eggnog originated in medieval England, but is a beloved holiday drink in the United States. The basic ingredients are milk, cream, sugar and lots of eggs. Spices like nutmeg and cinnamon can be added to add extra warmth. It's usually added with rum, but some variations of this drink use bourbon or brandy. Cook the cream mixture until thickened, then cool completely and serve at room temperature or refrigerated.

- Add to mixer. Cinnamon sticks and swirled cookies make great stirrers. One adds warmth, the other adds crunch.
- Heat it up. Place the eggnog in the microwave and heat 15 seconds at a time until warm or warm. enjoy!
- Add ingredients. screw in some whipped cream And sprinkle with candied pecans for added flavor.
- Exchange wine. Dark rum, bourbon, cognac, or brandy would work well in place of the white rum in this recipe, and all produce a similar smoky sweetness.
- Make a small batch. If you don't want people coming over, halve the recipe so it makes 2.5 servings instead of 5.
